For the Youths to be considered in the National and County Budgets, they need to be fully involved in the processes. However most youths believe that their civic responsibility starts and ends at voting. These is attributed to the lack of awareness and capacity to engage in National and County processes.
In 2019, Youth Agenda implemented projects in seven counties to create awareness and enhance participation of the youths in county planning and budgeting processes. The projects used an approach of establishing county youth networks and empowering of the networks to participate fully in governance process.
The key achievement of the project include;
Establishment of a county youth network in Transnzoia and Tharaka Nithi and building the capacity of Youth networks within five counties.
Increase in Youth responsive budgets within the seven counties.
Improved engagements between the youths and county leadership.
